San Diego County has more than 70 high schools running varsity football programs. More than 3,200 varsity players. A competitive CIF San Diego Section with division structures that regularly produce players at every level of college football — FBS, FCS, D2, NAIA, JUCO. And almost no national recruiting attention.

Why the country ignores it.

National recruiting services focus on the markets that generate the most traffic. Texas. Florida. Georgia. Ohio. Los Angeles. San Diego sits in the shadow of LA while fielding programs that rival anything north of it. Rankings here are based on size vs. college standard, production on film, and the film itself. Not offers. Not hype. Not politics. A kid with zero offers who plays like a four-star gets ranked like a four-star. A kid with eight offers who cannot play gets ranked like a two-star.
