A highlight reel tells a coach you had good plays. A full game tells a coach who you are. Coaches on the road — evaluating 300 prospects from a laptop in an airport — cannot watch 17 different highlight reels with different music. They watch game film. Send the full game.

Junior year film is the most important.

College coaches prioritize junior year film for Class of 2027 and 2028 recruits. It is the most recent full season at the highest level of competition the kid has played. If you are a junior and your Hudl only has freshman highlights, fix that before you send any emails.

How to set up Hudl right.

Your school probably already uploads game film to Hudl. Ask your coach for the team account link. Create a player account and link it. Tag yourself in plays. Create a highlight reel as a secondary option — not a replacement for full games. Make sure the link is publicly shareable before you put it in an email.

What goes in the email.

Name. Position. Class year. School. Height and weight. Hudl link. That is the entire email. One paragraph. Position coaches get hundreds of these. The ones that get read are short and have a link that works.

Submit your Hudl link here.

If you are a San Diego County player, submit your profile with a Hudl link. We put the link on your SD Prospects profile so college coaches who find you here can click directly to your film.
